See ya again! :) I'm here with more update about Batik.
Batik is a wax-resist dyeing technique. It's part of art and culture of Indonesians, especially Javanese people. It's kinda hard to make traditional batik. But you can learn it in Textile Museum, Jakarta or Batik Museum, Pekalongan. I haven't tried it yet, but I will someday in the near time. Hoho..take my promise.
I have been so in love with batik since I was a little. My grandmother is a Javanese and she wore it in every special occasion. I believe that she must be really proud about her cultural heritage so much. I’m pretty sure nowadays, she would be smiling from heaven. People in Indonesia no longer wear batik simply for special occasions, but also in their daily activities. From wake-up in the morning until go to bed again. You can wear batik all day long with no guilty for having a bad-fashion-day. Yep, you can be very comfy when sleep in "Daster", Javanese pajamas. (It's made from so comfortable fabric that we can be a sleeping beauty) Also chic with batik dress and casual with batik skirt plus tees.
It is now no longer odd anymore to see any ready-to-wear batik products since financial crisis against made-to-order products. Fashion industry is also making trends really fast change nowadays. So, I'll catch you later more about Batik.
Happy Batik all! :)
